Who is More Extreme: Mitt Romney or Barack Obama?

In a post called Mitt Romney Holds Extreme Views? LD of Political Realities talked about how Obama has accused Mitt Romney of holding extreme views. But which person truly holds extreme views - Romney or Obama? Let's take a look at a controversial subject - at their respective positions on abortion. Mitt Romney is against abortion except in cases of rape, incest, and when the life of the mother is in danger.  Obama is for abortion on demand with no exceptions, even for minors.  Mitt Romney is a defender of unborn babies lives while Obama deems unborn babies lives as disposable. Obama believes that if a woman chooses to end her pregnancy and murder her offspring before the baby is born that that is okay.  Are Obama's beliefs on abortion rights only applicable before the birth of the baby? In the video below you will hear how Obama believes that if an unborn baby survives an attempted abortion, which means that the baby is alive outside of the mother's womb, that taking certain basic steps in order to save the the life of the baby after the botched abortion has occurred would be undermining the woman's decision to abort that baby. So get this folks Obama not only believes in abortion prior to birth but he also believes it morally licit to leave a baby to die after a botched abortion when that baby is alive outside it's mother's womb.  That is morally repugnant. This means that Barack Obama believes that infanticide is morally justifiable.

What Is Social Justice?

at Catholic Lane gives a great explanation of what the true meaning of social justice really is. It isn't what the progressives are promulgating today. Progressives have distorted the authentic meaning of social justice, just like many other words nowadays.

According to the Compendium issued by the Holy See in 2004, “the primary and fundamental” core principles of Catholic social doctrine are “the dignity of the human person, the common good, subsidiarity and solidarity.”
Louie points out that in a document published by the USCCB which covered the "heart" of Catholic social teaching the bishops somehow failed to include an essential part of Catholic social teaching - subsidiarity. Hmmm... Why would that be? He continues below.

Pope Leo XIII, whose seminal 1891 encyclical, Rerum Novarum, is still the gold standard for articulating the fundamentals of the Church’s social doctrine, wouldn’t even recognize as Catholic much of the “social justice” drivel bandied about nowadays, some of it from ostensibly reliable sources.
Consider, for example, the letter sent to Congress earlier this year in the name of the bishops’ conference calling for “raising adequate revenues” (a phrase that every politically literate American recognizes as liberal-speak for “tax hikes”) before going on to give the impression that the single greatest champion of human dignity and charity on the planet is the Obama led Federal government.
Apparently the authors of this Democrat-policy-position-paper-on-USCCB-letterhead are unaware of some important facts: namely, that the high distinction just mentioned belongs to the Roman Catholic Church alone, that taxation is no substitute for the demands of social justice, that one would be hard pressed to find a more grossly inefficient and wasteful middleman for facilitating the flow of aid to the needy than the Federal government, and most critical of all is the fact that one of the first Executive Orders to come out of the current Administration is aimed at sending millions of dollars in taxpayer money overseas to fund abortions under the guise of humanitarian aid.

With the selection of Rep. Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney’s running mate, renewed attention is being paid to the topic of Catholic social doctrine, and so one would do well to ponder what “social justice” truly is.
First, let’s consider the word “social.” It simply means “of or relating to cooperative, interdependent relationships and associations among human beings.” Remember that word “associations.” It will come up again. The meaning of “justice,” on the other hand, is not so simple, and this is where the rubber hits, or in many cases leaves, the road. The classic understanding of “justice” is “rendering to every man his due,” but what exactly is man’s due?
According to the liberal worldview, man’s due is a function of unfettered freedom manifested largely in the so-called “right” to seek pleasure without moral restraint or judgment. At its worst this false notion of justice becomes the weapon by which another man’s freedom is taken; extending even so far as to consider it “just” to take an innocent life through abortion, euthanasia, or the destruction of human embryos for medical purposes.
This twisted view of justice is sometimes invoked to promote an artificial notion of equality under the guise of “fairness,” thus overriding the legitimate uniqueness of individual human persons. This can be discerned in attempts to downplay the connection between skill, effort and outcome in society; e.g., in educational systems that shun traditional grading methods, or in “competitions” that deem everyone “a winner,” or in economic systems that divorce production from remuneration as is so often the case when collective bargaining is employed. At its most egregious we see this manifested in statist systems of governance that force redistribution of temporal goods, sometimes even going so far as to reject the right to private property.  CONTINUED

Is Obama FBI Using Gestapo Style Tactics? Marine Veteran Brandon Raub Detained Over Facebook Posts

Alexander Higgins: "Last Thursday, a US Marine was detained by the FBI and local authorities for posting controversial anti-government political comments on the social media site Facebook."

Brandon Raub was detained by the FBI and the local authorities and ordered to have a psychiatric evaluation.

"Although 26 year-old Brandon Raub was detained and forced to undergo a psychiatric evaluation, he was not charged with any criminal misconduct, a hallmark of the NAZI gestapo tactic of indefinite psychiatric detention to crush political dissent.
A federal judge has said there is no basis with which to hold Raub and has ordered his release. He has since been released.
John Whitehead, a constitutional attorney representing Raub, joins RT to discuss how the US government violated his client’s first amendment rights."
Now I have heard that as a soldier (former soldier too?) if you are presently serving there are limits on what you can say against the government and the Commander-in-Chief but I wouldn't think that quoting song lyrics on Facebook which may have some violent content to them would be considered some sort of act against the government. Plus, he is a former marine so if he isn't enlisted anymore what right does the government have to spy on a former marine? In my opinion this is a clear violation of Brandon Raub's first amendment rights.
Raub's attorney John Whitehead made an appearance on GBTV recently and told Beck thathe is getting calls from military veterans all over the country subjected to the same Nazi style psychiatric detention for their political views."
"More alarming, is when Beck asked if people of left-wing ideology – specifically members of Occupy Wall Street – are being detained Whitehead responded  saying he can’t say for sure because people all over the country are just disappearing.
He also reveals that while Raub was in psychiatric detention one of the psychiatrists that he was seeing threatened to “brainwash” him and force him to take medication."

Here is the interview:

This is utterly outrageous!! Yet, another reason to vote Obama out of office. I am happy to hear that Raub's attorney is suing to change a Virginia state law that "allows authorities to place a person in emergency custody and hold them for four hours unless a magistrate enters a temporary detention order (TDO). Raub was held under this law, specifically Va. Code § 37.2-808, for days."

Our Veterans deserve to be honored and treated with dignity. Not to be treated with suspicion like they are criminals. Our young men and women in the military have served to protect our freedoms. It is unconscionable that now they are being targeted by our government. This ticks me off to no end. This has got to stop!

"Dishonorable Disclosures" (Full Video)

To The Obama Administration: Intelligence secrets are meant to kept secret. They are not to be revealed for political gain. That is unconscionable!!! So Obama & Co SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!

If any of our brave military men and women are killed because of your security leaks their blood is on your hands.

May God  keep our brave men and women safe while serving overseas.

Planned Parenthood is hooking kids on sex

Planned Parenthood promotes sex, sex, sex not just to adults but they specifically target kids because they know  that kids are vulnerable during their pre-teen and teenage years.  Planned Parenthood's promoters of sex are like predators on the hunt. They use kids just so they can make money killing innocent unborn babies. They are using the kids for profit. Planned Parenthood doesn't care how much this affects and hurts the kids. This is evidence that Planned Parenthood doesn't want to reduce teen pregnancy. They need teen pregnancy to occur. The more the better in their book. This makes me so ticked off. Planned Parenthood doesn't give a rats a$$ about kids. They are as harmful to kids as pedophiles who prey on our kids. May God watch over and guide kids to say NO to sex.

ChurchMilitantTV: It Ain't Justice

Social justice is not justice. Social justice is Marxism cloaked in the appearance that it is doing good for the poor. Social justice has created a culture of government dependency.

This is a disturbing report revealing where funds from Catholic Relief Services are going to.

From Shaun Kenney at Red State:

Folks, these are some of the most painful articles I’ve ever had to put to pen.  Yet the institutional rot at Catholic Relief Services is so deep — and the outrageous defense of CRS’s activities so blithe and numb to reality — that CRS is the new poster child for the epic political leftism eating away at the soul of faithful Catholicism in America.
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about the fact that Catholic Relief Services is a dues-paying member and on the board of an organization called the CORE Group, a virulently pro-abortion organization operating under the protection and advisement of CRS.
Catholic Relief Services pays about $3,000 per year in membership dues, is represented on the board of directors, and co-chairs the HIV/AIDS working group of the CORE Group — the same working group reviewed by CRS staff  promoting contraceptive use.
Their response?  The sort of mental gymnastics that offends common sense but rewards semantics:
We see our membership in the CORE Group as a means of demonstrating our faithfulness to Church teaching … CORE Group offers us an opportunity to highlight our work and improve the quality of our programming so mothers and children can live and thrive.
Not only does this not address the fact that CRS is paying dues to an organization promoting condom use and the integration of family planning into “Maternal and Child Health” programs, but it seems that this is fairly minor in light of another organization to which CRS pays dues.
It turns out that CRS is a member of an organization called MEDiCAM  and as a member, pays about $3,000 in membership dues.  Furthermore, CRS is listed as a 2011 member of MEDiCAM’s steering committee.
The problem with this is that MEDiCAM is heavily involved in efforts to expand the legalization and provision of “safe” abortions in Cambodia. More Here

– Catholic Relief Services gave a $5.3 million grant to a viciously pro-abortion, pro-contraception organization called CARE;
– Catholic Relief Services is a dues-paying member of the CORE Group, which is highly committed to spreading birth control to poor people in third world countries;
– and Catholic Relief Services is a dues-paying member and on the Executive Committee of MEDiCAM, an organization dedicated to expanding “safe abortions” in Cambodia.

The gold standard for Catholic charity in the modern age will remain Mother Teresa of Calcutta — and for good reason.  From her first moments of lifting a man out of a ditch to presiding over the worldwide charism of the Missionaries of Charity, not once did Mother Teresa inch away from her Catholic faith.  Instead of collaborating, she fearlessly challenged groups operating under the guise of charity while promoting Third World population control.  Rather than compromise, Mother Teresa fearlessly lived the Gospel and took on the abortion industry.
Would Mother Teresa be proud of what Catholic Relief Services has become?  Is doing?  Continues to do?
The answer is no.  Our answer should be the same.
Time for faithful Catholics to start contacting our bishops.  Tell Catholic Relief Services to stop giving aid and comfort to organizations diametrically opposed to what the Catholic Church is supposed to uphold — not only a preferential option for Mother Teresa of Calcutta’s poorest of the poor, but the unequivocal defense of the dignity of human life that those human beings deserve.
Well said Shaun.
Naughty, naughty, naughty Catholic Relief Services.  They are going against Catholic doctrine.
Here is what the Catholic Catechism has to say on abortion:
Abortion
2270 Human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From the first moment of his existence, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person - among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life.72
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you.73My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately wrought in the depths of the earth.74
2271 Since the first century the Church has affirmed the moral evil of every procured abortion. This teaching has not changed and remains unchangeable. Direct abortion, that is to say, abortion willed either as an end or a means, is gravely contrary to the moral law:
You shall not kill the embryo by abortion and shall not cause the newborn to perish.75God, the Lord of life, has entrusted to men the noble mission of safeguarding life, and men must carry it out in a manner worthy of themselves. Life must be protected with the utmost care from the moment of conception: abortion and infanticide are abominable crimes.76
2272 Formal cooperation in an abortion constitutes a grave offense. The Church attaches the canonical penalty of excommunication to this crime against human life. "A person who procures a completed abortion incurs excommunication latae sententiae,"77 "by the very commission of the offense,"78 and subject to the conditions provided by Canon Law.79 The Church does not thereby intend to restrict the scope of mercy. Rather, she makes clear the gravity of the crime committed, the irreparable harm done to the innocent who is put to death, as well as to the parents and the whole of society.

2273 The inalienable right to life of every innocent human individual is a constitutive element of a civil society and its legislation:

"The inalienable rights of the person must be recognized and respected by civil society and the political authority. These human rights depend neither on single individuals nor on parents; nor do they represent a concession made by society and the state; they belong to human nature and are inherent in the person by virtue of the creative act from which the person took his origin. Among such fundamental rights one should mention in this regard every human being's right to life and physical integrity from the moment of conception until death."80

"The moment a positive law deprives a category of human beings of the protection which civil legislation ought to accord them, the state is denying the equality of all before the law. When the state does not place its power at the service of the rights of each citizen, and in particular of the more vulnerable, the very foundations of a state based on law are undermined. . . . As a consequence of the respect and protection which must be ensured for the unborn child from the moment of conception, the law must provide appropriate penal sanctions for every deliberate violation of the child's rights."81

2274 Since it must be treated from conception as a person, the embryo must be defended in its integrity, cared for, and healed, as far as possible, like any other human being.

Prenatal diagnosis is morally licit, "if it respects the life and integrity of the embryo and the human fetus and is directed toward its safe guarding or healing as an individual. . . . It is gravely opposed to the moral law when this is done with the thought of possibly inducing an abortion, depending upon the results: a diagnosis must not be the equivalent of a death sentence."82

2275 "One must hold as licit procedures carried out on the human embryo which respect the life and integrity of the embryo and do not involve disproportionate risks for it, but are directed toward its healing the improvement of its condition of health, or its individual survival."83
"It is immoral to produce human embryos intended for exploitation as disposable biological material."84

"Certain attempts to influence chromosomic or genetic inheritance are not therapeutic but are aimed at producing human beings selected according to sex or other predetermined qualities. Such manipulations are contrary to the personal dignity of the human being and his integrity and identity"85 which are unique and unrepeatable.

Either Catholic Relief Services must stop donating money to organizations which fund and support abortions or it needs to stop being called "Catholic" and be renounced as a Catholic organization. We need to put pressure on the bishops folks.

Rudy Giuliani Responds To The Gaffe Machine: Under Biden, The Vice Presidency Just a "Laugh Line" on Late Night TV

Why is it that Democrats get a pass when they say racially overtoned rhetoric? Is it because liberals whether white, African-American, or of any descent are used to being used by the Democratic Party?  The Democratic Party thrives off of the uninformed. They rely on those voters.  They take advantage of the poor and rely on their base just taking their word for it, not looking up the facts, and that they will listen to the Left-Stream Media which constantly covers up for the Obama administration and Democrats, distorts the truth, and is pretty much an arm of this administration. But if we say that we want this country to be more faithful to the vision of our Founders some blacks actually believe that to be racist, thinking that means we want blacks to be slaves again.  Please folks I do urge you to use your brains, use some common sense, and now know that following the vision of our Founding Fathers means less government control over our lives and has nothing to do with slavery. This means more freedom, less tyranny. Barack Obama and his ilk are for tyranny. Please do not be slaves to the government. Vote for Mitt Romney.

Here Guiliani is on with Piers Morgan.

Obama Admin's Lack of Transparency Revealed: 5 'Devastating Secrets' They Tried To Hide From The American Public

In his book The Corruption Chronicles Tom Fitton of Judicial Watch covers three administrations showing the corruption and government secrecy during the Clinton, Bush, and Obama administrations.
From The Blaze:
Has the Obama administration desperately tried to hide “devastating secrets” from the American people? This is a question that JudicialWatch President Tom Fitton affirmatively answers in his new book, “The Corruption Chronicles.”
“To place Obama in context, you have to go back through the Bush and Clinton administrations,” he explained. “The book traces the arc of corruption in the Clinton administration through the Bush presidency, where you had this explosion of government secrecy…”

Here Tom Fitton highlights the five most pervasive secrets that the Obama administration has tried to conceal.

1) Fast and Furious:  A press release for the book promises that readers will, “See the truth behind the scandal code-named Fast and Furious, a government program that supplied thousands of firearms to murderous criminals in Mexico — and for which Attorney General Eric Holder was convicted of contempt of Congress (and now possible disbarment!).”
TheBlaze has covered this scandal in detail, with our most recent story detailing a high-ranking Mexican drug cartel operative’s claim that Fast and Furious isn’t what many people think it is. While many on the left deem the scandal surrounding the operation politically-motivated, there’s no doubt that the administration — particularly Holder — has gone to great lengths to ensure that some documentation remains out of reach.

2) White House Czars: When Obama first entered office, his use of so-called “czars” came under fire. Fitton claims that their activities are among the most protected elements within the administration. The press release for the book encourages readers: “Be appalled by the Constitution-defying czars – appointed by the president or his administration, the current count is 45.”
In 2011, JudicialWatch completed a report about these public officials. The executive summary explains some of the issues with these individuals, who were appointed by Obama and his staffers:
This Judicial Watch Special Report examines President Obama’s unprecedented appointment and use of unconfirmed and unaccountable policy advisors or “czars” throughout his administration. Presidents typically have advisors with whom they can discuss and devise policy initiatives. In recent years, however, presidential advisors have taken on powerful new roles in the government without undergoing the process of Senate confirmation.
Unaccountable czars, many working in the White House, are being given unprecedented authority over major aspects of government policy. As is discussed herein, President Obama has appointed a number of controversial persons to czar posts, a few of whom have subsequently resigned. Others remain, despite controversy.
Their activities and their exact roles, Fitton says, are secretive in nature.

3) Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac: The third secret involves government-sponsored mortgage companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Fitton told TheBlaze that “never before has so much money been spent with so little oversight.” In February, TheBlaze reported that millions in taxpayer funds were used to defend three executives associated with the company. This, of course, is only one of the many stories surrounding Fannie and Freddie.
Considering that both institutions were essentially taken over by the U.S. government in 2008, JudicialWatch maintains that documents pertaining to political donations, for instance, are subject to FOIA requests. But the administration has claimed that there is no need for either Freddie or Fannie to release these documents.

4) Details Surrounding the Bin Laden Raid: Fitton claims that the Obama administration has maintained secrecy over details surrounding the raid that killed terrorist Osama bin Laden. Late last month, UPI reported that JudicialWatch had filed a FOIA lawsuit against the U.S. Navy for information about the raid. The organization is seeking details about ”any funeral ceremony, rite or ritual” that was performed before bin Laden’s burial at sea.
The group is also seeking any and all communications and records surrounding the terrorist’s funeral. Here’s what Fitton told UPI in relation to the case:
President Barack Obama ”is playing politics with bin Laden’s death and ignoring the rule of law — especially the transparency laws that his appointees violate with impunity…I suspect the Obama administration is embarrassed by the burial ceremony, which explains our having to go to court to get basic information about this important piece of history.”
5) Justice Elena Kagan’s Role in Crafting ObamaCare: Despite the fact that the Supreme Court has made its voice heard on Obamacare, many still have questions about Supreme Court Justice Elena Kagan‘s early role in discussing the legislation’s path to the high court. Politico explains the debate surrounding Kagan, particularly when it comes to her potential role in defending health care:
Conservative groups like Judicial Watch and the Media Research Council, along with some Republican lawmakers, pressed Kagan to recuse herself. They noted her exchanges of emails about the law with colleagues, and they suspected she was involved in administration discussions about legal strategy to respond to the case. Administration officials insisted she avoided all substantive discussions about the Justice Department’s efforts to plan a defense of the law.
The basic concern on the part of those calling for Kagan’s recusal seemed to be that she would effectively rubber-stamp the Obama health care law.
“I think the reason she was appointed was to provide votes like this on ‘Obamacare,’” Judicial Watch president Tom Fitton said Tuesday.
In the end, some have defended Kagan, claiming that she actually broke with Democrats over her agreement with Chief Justice John Roberts that the Medicaid expansion is unconstitutional. Still, she supported the majority of the controversial law.
In November 2011, JudicialWatch obtained documents from Kagan’s time as U.S. solicitor general that the group claims raised questions about her involvement in Department of Justice discussions about Obamacare. The group filed a FOIA lawsuit in an attempt to secure documents from Kagan’s pre-Supreme Court post to assess whether there was a conflict of interest in her involvement in the high court’s review of the individual mandate.
These are just some of the secrets that were purportedly concealed by the Obama administration. You can read about the rest in Fitton’s “The Corruption Chronicles.”
I believe this administration has been the least transparent in modern history, and maybe ever.  This book looks like a must read for me.  Adding to my reading list.

Is Obama Hostile to All Religions or Just Biblically-based Ones?

Here is Mitt Romney's newly released ad which calls out Obama's war on religion.

David Barton of Wallbuilders makes the case that Obama is not hostile to all religions, but is ONLY hostile toward those which are Biblically-based.  He outlines examples of how the Obama administration has been hostile to Biblical persons or organizations, examples of hostility toward Biblical faith in the Obama-led military, a listing of his open attacks on Biblical values, and lists incidents of preferential deference for Islam's activities and positions.

1. Acts of hostility toward people of Biblical faith:
  • April 2008 – Obama speaks disrespectfully of Christians, saying they “cling to guns or religion” and have an “antipathy to people who aren't like them.” 1
  • February 2009 – Obama announces plans to revoke conscience protection for health workers who refuse to participate in medical activities that go against their beliefs, and fully implements the plan in February 2011. 2
  • April 2009 – When speaking at Georgetown University, Obama orders that a monogram symbolizing Jesus' name be covered when he is making his speech. 3
  • May 2009 – Obama declines to host services for the National Prayer Day (a day established by federal law) at the White House. 4
  • April 2009 – In a deliberate act of disrespect, Obama nominated three pro-abortion ambassadors to the Vatican; of course, the pro-life Vatican rejected all three. 5
  • October 19, 2010 – Obama begins deliberately omitting the phrase about “the Creator” when quoting the Declaration of Independence – an omission he has made on no less than seven occasions. 6
  • November 2010 – Obama misquotes the National Motto, saying it is “E pluribus unum” rather than “In God We Trust” as established by federal law. 7
  • January 2011 – After a federal law was passed to transfer a WWI Memorial in the Mojave Desert to private ownership, the U. S. Supreme Court ruled that the cross in the memorial could continue to stand, but the Obama administration refused to allow the land to be transferred as required by law, and refused to allow the cross to be re-erected as ordered by the Court. 8
  • February 2011 – Although he filled posts in the State Department, for more than two years Obama did not fill the post of religious freedom ambassador, an official that works against religious persecution across the world; he filled it only after heavy pressure from the public and from Congress. 9
  • April 2011 – For the first time in American history, Obama urges passage of a non-discrimination law that does not contain hiring protections for religious groups, forcing religious organizations to hire according to federal mandates without regard to the dictates of their own faith, thus eliminating conscience protection in hiring. 10
  • August 2011 – The Obama administration releases its new health care rules that override religious conscience protections for medical workers in the areas of abortion and contraception. 11
  • November 2011 – Obama opposes inclusion of President Franklin Roosevelt’s famous D-Day Prayer in the WWII Memorial. 12
  • November 2011 – Unlike previous presidents, Obama studiously avoids any religious references in his Thanksgiving speech. 13
  • December 2011 – The Obama administration denigrates other countries' religious beliefs as an obstacle to radical homosexual rights.14
  • January 2012 – The Obama administration argues that the First Amendment provides no protection for churches and synagogues in hiring their pastors and rabbis. 15
  • February 2012 – The Obama administration forgives student loans in exchange for public service, but announces it will no longer forgive student loans if the public service is related to religion. 16
2. Acts of hostility from the Obama-led military toward people of Biblical faith:
  • June 2011 – The Department of Veterans Affairs forbids references to God and Jesus during burial ceremonies at Houston National Cemetery. 17
  • August 2011 – The Air Force stops teaching the Just War theory to officers in California because the course is taught by chaplains and is based on a philosophy introduced by St. Augustine in the third century AD – a theory long taught by civilized nations across the world (except America). 18
  • September 2011 – Air Force Chief of Staff prohibits commanders from notifying airmen of programs and services available to them from chaplains. 19
  • September 2011 – The Army issues guidelines for Walter Reed Medical Center stipulating that “No religious items (i.e. Bibles, reading materials and/or facts) are allowed to be given away or used during a visit.” 20
  • November 2011 – The Air Force Academy rescinds support for Operation Christmas Child, a program to send holiday gifts to impoverished children across the world, because the program is run by a Christian charity. 21
  • November 2011 – The Air Force Academy pays $80,000 to add a Stonehenge-like worship center for pagans, druids, witches and Wiccans. 22
  • February 2012 – The U. S. Military Academy at West Point disinvites three star Army general and decorated war hero Lieutenant General William G. (“Jerry”) Boykin (retired) from speaking at an event because he is an outspoken Christian. 23
  • February 2012 – The Air Force removes “God” from the patch of Rapid Capabilities Office (the word on the patch was in Latin: Dei). 24
  • February 2012 – The Army orders Catholic chaplains not to read a letter to parishioners that their archbishop asked them to read. 25
  • April 2012 – A checklist for Air Force Inns will no longer include ensuring that a Bible is available in rooms for those who want to use them.26
  • May 2012 - The Obama administration opposes legislation to protect the rights of conscience for military chaplains who do not wish to perform same-sex marriages in violation of their strongly-held religious beliefs.27
  • June 2012 - Bibles for the American military have been printed in every conflict since the American Revolution, but the Obama Administration revokes the long-standing U. S. policy of allowing military service emblems to be placed on those military Bibles.28

irobot and more....

It is Friday evening and I thought everyone would like a break from politics. FYI: If I haven't visited your blog recently it is because on Tuesday and Wednesday I was in so much pain that I was pretty much in my bed the whole time during those two days.  I have been getting so fatigued lately too so hopefully I will get to do another mini eagle freedom links very soon, like I promised last week.  Wishing everyone a fantastic and relaxing weekend!

Curbing Gun Violence

This opening segment to the NEW Mancow Show on the Fox News network features a spirited debate regarding the escalating gun violence in Chicago and around the country, hosted by Radio Talk show host, Mancow.

One of the ladies in the video claims that there is not a cause and effect between the cities run by Democrats which have strict gun laws but have an unbelievable amount of violence occurring in those cities.  While she dismisses the evidence that these cities which have strict gun laws don't keep criminals from finding and owning guns, but in fact keeps guns out of the hands of law-abiding citizens, thus preventing law-abiding citizens from stopping a gunman and saving lives I have a question: why haven't we seen a significant uptick in gunmen walking around committing shooting sprees in those cities where gun laws are more lax?

How would our Founders respond to the escalation in violence?

Chuck Norris says:

George Washington warned us in his presidential Farewell Address about a time in America’s future where we might be tempted to discard the pillars of civility: “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism, who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity. Let it simply be asked: Where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation deserts the oaths which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice? And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion. Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.”

Curbing violent crimes is still more about what we do rather than government does. The answer is still more about nature’s law within us rather than man’s law outside of us.
We must return to a nation where mutual respect is king – where I am my brother’s keeper and we agree to disagree agreeably. It’s time to renew our commitment to the basic premises of humanity: Do unto others as you would have them do to you, and love our neighbor as ourselves.
In today’s world, each American must also be vigilant against crime. We must have zero tolerance for our volatility to violence. We must come together as community leaders to brainstorm solutions rather than expect our politicians in Washington, D.C., to come up with the answers. We must be equally willing to reach out to those lost souls who feel marginalized and disenfranchised by the world around them. We must also reconsider the power of our own models on our families, and that our children will likely model our treatment of others.
Beyond enhancing these internal and inherent qualities, we need to come together as individuals, families, community groups, schools, churches and local law enforcement to strategize and communicate, educate community residents about victims’ rights, enhance public awareness about what we all can do to increase our survival in the midst of fatal crimes, make plans to offer victims assistance (via intervention, food closets, temporary shelter, mental health counseling, legal help and other emergency services), track violent offenders, further crack down on children and family violence violations, ensure additional necessary securities and network through the Internet with other help agencies.
I might play a tough guy who protects victims from bad guys on screen, but in real life I’m also an advocate for those at-risk, too, particularly through our KickStartKids foundation. My wife, Gena, and I consider KickStartKids our life’s mission. KickStartKids means building strong moral character in our youth through the martial arts. Its purpose is to help raise self-esteem and instill discipline and respect that so many children are lacking today.
Two other warriors who are raising the bar of societal and youth decency are our dear friends, Darrell and Sandy Scott, who spearhead Rachel’s Challenge in memory of their beautiful and kind daughter, Rachel, who was murdered at Columbine High School more than a decade ago. Rachel said, “I have this theory that if one person can go out of their way to show compassion, then it will start a chain reaction of the same.” KickStartKids and Rachel’s Challenge have recently partnered to further help American youth and families.
Lastly, regarding the victims of the Aurora shooting, let us remember there is a promise in the Bible, “What others mean for harm, God will turn around and use for the good.” It also says, “God is near to the brokenhearted.”
May God’s nearness be a comfort to the Colorado victims and their families.

Question: Do criminals or those intent on committing a crime follow the law?  Since they're called criminals probably not. So if they aren't going to follow the law how are gun laws going to affect criminals?

Massachusetts has some of the toughest gun laws in the nation yet those laws haven't prevented the stockpiling of weapons.

Jim Wallace of the Gun Owners' Action League:
"adds that since the state enacted tougher gun laws in 1998, gun ownership has fallen by 85 percent. Yet gun crimes have increased dramatically. And about once a year, someone is arrested with a stockpile of illegal weapons in Massachusetts."

From Mitt Romney:

“Just having a law saying someone can’t do a bad thing doesn’t always keep a person from doing a bad thing,” the presumptive Republican presidential nominee told NBC’s Brian Williams.

I agree.  If people are motivated and intent on committing a heinous act they're going to do it regardless of what the law says.

Is the teaching of morality the answer? Or gun laws?
